MY PHOTOGRAPHY IS ABOUT LOVING LIFE.
Thank you for visiting my site. It’s an honor to be invited to be part of your life, sharing and documenting important milestones. My passion in photography started after the loss of my son. I realize how very important it is to have precious memories that last forever.
I worked as a podiatrist for 20 plus years, but always had a creative side that demanded my attention. Many years ago I discovered photography and found that it satisfies both sides of me, art and science. I started taking photos as a hobby like so many of us, but transitioned into professional work as my photography began to be recognized and my passion for it took over. I also have a published book, One Year Without Jonathan, a story about grief and the afterlife illustrated with my photography.
I’m a native Michigander, not so fond of the deep winter but in love with the diversity of our state. In one hour you can be farming in an urban garden in Detroit, and then sipping champagne by an elegant fountain on Belle Isle. You can be lost in thought gazing into Monet’s pastels at the Art Institute and before you know it, sailing on one of Michigan’s many beautiful lakes. The possibilities in Michigan are endless, just like the settings in my photos. I love taking colorful, natural photos up north and gritty, artsy ones in Detroit. Most important I am trying to find or create a unique setting that represents the real you.
I love taking photos of children, families, couples, seniors, and special events such as family reunions, birthdays and sports. I have been the team photographer for several teams, including water polo, gymnastics and swimming. I also have done photography for local businesses, such as Kids Empowered, for promotional services.
My studio is in my historic home in the Metro Detroit area and I am available for shoots here and throughout the state of Michigan. Feel free to ask about my availability to travel to your destination.
When people ask me what equipment I use I tell them I use my eyes, that is the most important things about being a great photographer. Since people still are curious about my equipment, I use professional level Canon equipment.
